Factors that may be considered by the trustee in selecting purchasers for property held in trust (listed in no particular order):

Potential purchaser’s tax payment history

Potential purchaser’s ability to maintain property

Potential purchaser’s connection to the property (e.g. ownership of adjacent lot) 

Potential purchaser’s resources to continue property maintenance and payment of taxes

Potential purchaser’s willingness and ability to purchase multiple lots at once

Guidelines adopted by Buchanan County Planning & Zoning Trustee:

Property will be listed for two weeks on Buchanan County Planning & Zoning website after properties are turned over to Trustee from Collector

Purchaser must sign a BUYER BEWARE of any open liens or judgements against property.  These properties do not have title searches

Parties interested in purchasing a trustee property MAY make their interest known by submitting a written form within 10 business days after the list of properties is posted on the website
